Providing Data, Evidence and Innovation

The Gates Science of Teaching activity is a four-year (August 2020-December 2024) grant implemented by RTI International. The overall objective of the grant is to provide data, evidence, and innovation in order to improve foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) outcomes in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.

The main areas of focus during this grant period are:

Synthesis of the body of evidence on effectively implementing FLN programs at scale.

Generation of new evidence on how to effectively implement FLN programs in LMICs.

Dissemination of synthesis products developed and new research generated.

Webinar on Math Education: Evidence-based Instructional Strategies

RTI’s Dr. Yasmin Sitabkhan and Dr. Wendi Ralaingita provide an overview of the findings from the Numeracy at Scale study, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Mr. Francisco Mejía from El Salvador’s Ministry of Education presents key points of the ESMATE strategy, one of the programs included in the study. This first in a series of webinars is part of a global community of practice in early grade math in LMICs, which will seek to connect professionals working in math education and improve the quality of pedagogical discourse and implementation.
